Delta 8 THC, like CBD, is one of over 100 cannabinoids present in cannabis/hemp plants.
Does Delta-8 have an intoxicating effect? Yes, it does.
The two most well known cannabinoids are THC (delta 9) which is intoxicating, and CBD which is not. Delta-8 is somewhere in between. Most will report it has intoxicating effects like marijuana (delta-9), but not as intense.
Not everyone is affected the same way. Depending on your size, amount you take and familiarity with cannabis products, people can and will have different experiences. Start with a small amount and allow at least an hour to see how it makes you feel. You can always take more, but you can't take less.
While Both are said to be intoxicating, delta-8 is best described as having half the potency of delta-9 THC. Many people claim that delta-8 is a smoother, less anxious psychoactive experience than delta-9. delta 8 has been found in studies to have additional medicinal effects than delta 9 THC, such as relief from pain relief, anxiety, and nausea. however, these claims have not yet been weighed out in clinical trials.
Dr. Peter Grinspoon, a primary care physician at Harvard Medical School who specializes in medical marijuana has found, "I think it's been shown that there's a difference; People report delta-8 being less anxiety provoking, less sedating, and a little more clear-headed than THC (marijuana) in many ways."
